Tggk Crack a Smile for the Toy News of the Week
This past Sunday, July 21, a massive explosion on the surface of the Sun, called a coronal mass ejection  CME , occurred. This happens when powerful magnetic fields on the Suns surface get stretched to the point of breaking. Eventually they snap, sending enormous amounts of solar particles shooting off into space, some of which can head towards Earth.     On Wednesday, those particles are set to arrive. But fear not, they arent dangerous to humans. Instead, they will set off a chain reaction that may lead to viv stanley cup id auroras over parts of the United States that dont regularly get to see them. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, auroras could be visible over no stanley cup rthern and upper midwest states from New York to Idaho on the evening of Wednesday July 24.聽 漏 NOAA The bright, swirling lights of auroras like the Northern Lights are caused when solar particles collide with oxygen and nitrogen in the atmosphere. The molecules get excited by the collision, but as they lose the energy they picked up, they begin to glow. When there are particularly powerful explosions on the Sun   surface, like Sundays CME, unusual amounts of particles are shot at the Earth, resulting in aur stanley cup oras in unusual places. Although Sundays solar storm might seem ginormous compared to, say, the bomb in Oppenheimer, it was actually pretty small as solar storms go. NOAA rated it as a G2, the second weakest variety. While its not dangerous to humans, the effects of the storm do pose a  Zqtf The iPhone s Best Nintendo Emulator Is Getting Online Multiplayer
Using sheets of graphene, the researchers have been trying separate different isotopes of hydrogen鈥攑lain old hydrogen and deuterium, which has one extra neutron at its core. Its not just an academic exercise: nuclear power plants require heavy water in which regular hydrogen is switched out for deuterium and the separation stanley taza  of pure deuterium is expensive, so being able to easily filter the two from each other could be pretty damn usef stanley tumbler ul.     In a series of experiments published in Science, the team has shown that it can use graphene to filter protons鈥攚hich are the nuclei of hydrogen atoms鈥攆rom heavier nuclei of the hydrogen isotope deuterium. The deuterium nuclei simply get left behind as the smaller protons pass through the sheet. Its a neat and apparently unexpected discovery, as theoretical predictions suggested to the researchers that both may pass through. The team has even built a small-scale, proof-of-concept commercial device which takes hydrogen and deuterium as its inputs and pumps out just hydrogen.  This is really the first membrane shown to distinguish between subatomic particles, all at room tempera stanley isolierkanne ture,  explains Dr Marcelo Lozada-Hidalgo in a press release.  Now that we showed that it is a fully scalable technology, we hope it will quickly find its way to real applications.  [Manchester University]                                                        ChemistryPhysicsScience
